The 57th Eurovision Song Contest in 2012 was held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, following the victory of Ell & Nikki (Eldar Gasimov and Nigar Jamal) at the 2011 contest. Representatives from 42 countries took part in the competition. The representatives of Azerbaijan, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, and Italy participated directly in the final.
